Notifications for Moderation as a Group Administrator

Enable notifications for your Group Administrative privileges

As a Group Administrator on The Social Collective platform, notifications for new opportunities, organisations, or users are turned off by default. This helps prevent your inbox from becoming overwhelmed. However, there are times when you may want to activate these notifications to stay informed about moderation prompts.

This article will guide you through the process of enabling notifications and understanding when they are triggered.

Step 1: Checking Your Notifications Status

If your notifications have been disabled, you'll see a red banner at the top of your profile page. From your profile you will see.

These alerts are related to your group administration rights. Several factors could affect your notifications

  • Has your Super Administrator set up your profile correctly?
  • Are your group administration rights linked to the correct custom fields?

To verify, check the icons in the top-right corner of your profile. Your Super Administrator will need to manually configure the group administration rights and ensure the appropriate custom fields are linked to your profile, matching the organisations, users, and opportunities relevant to you.

Step 2: When Will You Be Notified?

Notifications are only sent when the following conditions are met:

  • Opportunities: You'll be notified when a matching user posts an opportunity if moderation for opportunities is enabled.
  • Opportunity Reports: You'll receive notifications when a matching user submits an opportunity report, provided moderation is on.
  • New Organisations: If a new organisation is added that matches your custom field setup, and moderation for organisations is active, you'll be notified.
  • New Users: Notifications will be sent when a new user matching your group administration rights is created, if user moderation is enabled.

Keep in mind, notifications will only occur if the relevant custom fields and group administration rights have been correctly set up.

Step 3: Why Do Notifications and Moderation Matter?

In short: junk in equals junk out. Group administration rights are defined by your company to segment data checks and create sub-processes for managing large volumes of information. If you have outstanding items in your moderation queue, and no alert has come through, it could mean that one of the necessary settings is incorrect. Mistakes can happen, so regular reviews are important.

Step 4: Recommended Actions

To stay on top of your responsibilities, regularly check the following areas:

  • Ensure all settings and custom fields are aligned to match your group administration rights.
  • Set up custom dashboards to track data points you are responsible for reviewing.

Custom dashboards can be configured by your Super Administrator, or you can contact Support to assist you with setting up a dashboard that meets your specific needs.

By following these steps, you can ensure your notifications and data checks are properly managed, helping you keep your group administration tasks on track.
